For the fourteenth consecutive year Arridge Garage Doors exhibited at the show. Existing trade customers, retail customers and future possible customers meet face to face with us. This is a rare event for a business which is now primarily internet based, and it is good to get a feel for any developing trends in demand, tastes and general market buoyancy.
General trends in the garage door market.
Anthracite Grey has certainly became the flavour of the month. In fairness this has been the case now for two or three years.
Large Rib Hormann, Solid Smooth Carteck and the competitively priced Alutech door and motor deal in Large rib are the popular doors on contemporary new build properties, Cedar clad buildings and renovations alike.
These doors offer the benefits of:
- high insulation (U-value as low as 1.1 Wm2K),
- draught proofing and
- good security.
The Hormann door fitted in the normal way for a sectional door, on the back of the brickwork, has Secure By Design accreditation when fitted with a Hormann Promatic or Hormann Supramatic motor.

Hormann garage doors UK at the NEC Homebuilding and renovating show.
Hormann UK had about the largest stand at the show, displaying their ThermoPro and ThermoPro Plus front doors. Also their newly launched insulated side hinged garage doors which we will be adding to our website imminently.
The Glass sectional door Hormann ALR Vitraplan
This glass garage door was on display turning many heads with its tinted semi-reflective glass. A lovely door if you want people to see into your garage and admire your Ferrari (or clutter) as the case may be.
- Most people we met at the show are at planning or foundation stage, likely to be ready for a door in the next 2 months to 2 years.
- In this time we like to advise, guide, inform and quote accurately so when a purchase is finally made all the uncertainties and unwelcome surprises have been removed.
- The door is the correct type of door for the customer, and property, it fits well without snags, and the cost is competitive.
