All cedar side hinged garage doors are made to measure in width and height.
Timber side-hinged garage doors come as 2 loose leaves for on-site fitting to a separate goalpost frame. The ORDERING SIZE is the exact internal frame size of this goalpost frame. Do not allow a fitting tolerance as the factory will do this.
If you are ordering a timber frame with your door simply state your exact brickwork opening sizes and we will do the rest.
We supply 90mm x 70mm goalpost fixing frames that come with loose rebate strips for fixing onto the frame after the doors have been fitted. They reduce weather and draught coming through the gap between the door and the frame.
If fitting to an existing or new timber frame which we are not supplying please ensure it is fitted true and plumb and is sturdy enough to take the hinges etc. Ideal timber for frame is 90mm x 70mm in section.
Most side-hinged garage doors are fitted between the brick pillars. This allows the doors to open past 90° without the doors hitting the pillars.

Measuring your brickwork opening for a pair of cedar wood side hinged garage doors.
Simply measure the brick to brick width and floor to lintel height accurately at the tightest points (please see Diagram above).
When measuring a brickwork opening its size can vary depending on exactly where you measure it, so take a number of sizes at different points.
Ideally you should check how level the floor and lintel are and how plumb the two brick piers are with a spirit level. Allow for any run out. Take the tightest sizes. Do not allow a fitting tolerance, we will do this.
Check that the drive is level or falls away from the door. The door leaves must be able to swing out without catching on the drive.
