From their purpose made factory in Brackley, Northamptonshire Woodrite manufacture steel and solid timber door chassis and carefully crafted timber door panels. Doors are constructed on site and are tank-dipped in a basecoat using the Tecknos system to preserve and seal the wood. In 2012 Woodrite expanded their range to include a door chassis system designed and made by Hormann/Garador which Woodrite call "Super-Chassis" lifting gear. Using this system only timber is visible from the front of the garage door with no exposed metal chassis edges on view. Fully finishing is available at nominal extra cost on all doors.
All doors are specially made, so made to measure doors cost little more than standard size ones. Customers can choose from either canopy or retractable gear systems, both at the same cost. Bespoke door designs are also catered for, please contact us for details.
The Buckingham range of garage doors are hand crafted using solid cedar mouldings and tongue and groove boards. Examples of the Woodrite Buckingham range of doors fixed to a neat, strong and stable steel chassis can be seen below.
The Somerset range of garage doors are hand crafted using solid cedar mouldings and cedar faced plywood fixed to a neat, strong and stable steel chassis. Examples of the Woodrite Somerset range of doors.
Woodrite Garage Door's Balmoral range is constructed with solid timber frames rather than a steel chassis. Built using traditional methods including mortice and tenon joints, the deeper wooden rails give strength and a high quality flavour to the entire range.
The Woodrite York Range are all side hinged garage doors. These are hand crafted, high quality solid cedar doors with 28 designs available. Some of the wide-panelled doors utilise cedar-faced plywood, where appropriate. Matching side doors and frames also available to complement all styles of up and over doors.
Woodrite's Warwick range of doors has been developed by Woodrite as a very clever alternative to Oak. Idigbo is a hardwood that is very similar to Oak in colour and grain detail but is much cheaper than Oak, lighter and much more stable. These characteristics make it ideal for the construction of large objects like garage doors which have to remain stable (do not warp) in use and must not be too heavy.
Available as a panel built door on a steel chassis (this chassis is not visible at all when the door is viewed from the front) or as a solid built door.
Solid Idigbo frames also available. Fully finished in natural oak woodstain (almost clear), as standard, as most customers want the natural oak look. Other colours available.
The Monmouth range is constructed from solid oak styles and rails with oak-faced plywood infill panels. Plywood is used because solid oak is too heavy and too prone to shrinking/warping to be made into a garage door when it has to be sold with a manufacturer's guarantee and full CE marking. The oak-faced infill panels are light & stable, matching the solid oak framing to the door and ensuring peace of mind.
